Duncan does not actually teach this class. He has guest lecturers every class, which most happen to be past students of Duncan. You have to be at every lecture or your grade will suffer (if you miss 2 classes, your grade drops a letter, then for every class you miss after that your grade drops another letter). You don't need to take notes because nothing covered in lecture applies to your projects. In your projects be sure to use a lot of pictures (like a ridiculous amount). If you think you have enough, then you probably don't. There are two individual projects and one group project that determine your grade. These projects have nothing to do with lecture. This is a class that you have to take so there is nothing you can do about it.

Professor Duncan's course is full of a lot of public speakers about different aspects of design. Other than the speakers you receive time in class to work on the three papers that make up the class. His grading is double checked by his TA Mark.

This class is ridiculous. It was actually taught by Dave Hinsley who is an architect. I don't think I learned anything from the instructor and he doesn't help you help yourself. The grading is completely subjective and he seems to end up favoring certain people. Your overall grade is determined by your projects (we had around 4). Somehow I ended with an overall grade of a B with project grades of A, A-, and a B. When trying to contact Dave about this, he would not return any emails. I tried to talk to Duncan about it but he told me Dave is the only one who could help me. Hope that you don't have to take this with Dave as your instructor.
